to have a filter on the valve cover is a must, but to have one on your intake is optional.

your car is designed that way they come with the valve cover ventilation. it will spit oil out of it when driven hard, they are suppossed to. all hondas burn a little oil if you notice when you drive your civic hard for extended periods of time between oil changes youll be a little low maybe up to a quart low in some cases. this is supposed to happen. you do need to either out a hose on it or put a filter on it i used a piece of hose and routed it down, i didnt want to spend $4-10 on a filter i dont like how they look and it does nothing for your car but add a little filter element to the vent. its all up to you, its personal preference. if you put nothing on it it will eventually spit oil out onto your intake eventually. If you notice honda has it running to your intake as well so if anyone doesnt want oil going into your intake well,..... it happens from the factory as well.

yeah, you only need one on the head. the only reason I put one on the intake tube was 'cause I honestly couldn't find anything to cap it off with so I just bought a second filter.

not only oil, but theres the possibility of tiny metal shavings being sucked in by the vacuum also...

yea I had a filter at the end of mine and its started to put a oil smell in my engine bay,I can smell it in my car while driving,so i switch back to the hose and the smell went a away, question: the oil smell, is that normal?
