I'm new to this forums thing, so my question is, is there anything I can do to my civic to give it a better responds time? A friend mentioned I can advance the dizzy? Any little thing can help thanks (stock d16y7)

Short answer. No. The d-series motors were built slow for a reason. They are for gas mileage. To get any real power out of them, you need boost or rip it out and drop in a bigger motor.

Advance the dizzy? These aren't old chevys, man.

Also, when making a post, please make a title reflects what you are asking, as well as in the first sentence of EVERY question thread you make you need to put the car, make, model, engine, and any modifications done to it if you want thorough help. Our members can't help if we don't know what you are working with.

Last but not least, search first before making a thread. Chances are what you have to ask has been asked thousands of times, which case this thread definitely applies to that category. How to get more power out of a civic is asked weekly.

That's a question that has been asked for over a decade now. It's all subjective. Personally, I would probably go LS if doing a turbo build and b20 if going all motor. In the end they are the same casting and the same crank so it is all personal preference.

Do a google search, there are hundreds of threads on hondatech alone asking that very same question. Both motors have a lot of potential if done right. Both have pros and cons. Going to have to do the research and decide on your own what is best for YOUR build. It's all a matter of preference.

I have a slight idle problem. Goes up to 2300 and drops to 1100 than repeats. my throttle cable isn't loose. What else can I check?
