I really need the communities help. Car Accident.

Tuesday on my way home from work I was driving in traffic. While I was standing in the traffic line I was rear ended by a Benz. Of course, it was a 16year old careless driver who was on their phone. The police was called and never showed up. It is not my fault so my insurance was not affected. I was given an appointment to the AutoBody Shop today and of course they say my car is totaled. Being in highschool I really dont have the funds or want of a new car. What was damaged is, my back bumper, spare tire location and my aftermarket exhaust. The bumper seems salvageable and exhaust too. The exhaust was compacted at the piping and the other drivers vehicle damaged the spare tire location. My main worry is the trunk. I can either total the car which KBB value is 1200$. Please help me and with suggestions. Should I just try for a check and do it all myself. I'd hate to see this car go, I've put a lot of time into it and money.

Sorry for bad quality pictures,

Thanks for reading.

You have structural damage. These things are a dime a dozen. Take the stuff off of it that you want to keep and ditch the car. To me personally it is absolutely ridiculous to fix something like this. You don't have a low mileage one owner gem, you have a run of the mill civic. You are going to be paying more to fix it than what it is actually worth, which is EXACTLY why they are totaling it. I would move on.

:/ I paid 2000 for it. Being my first car and being in highschool. I guess it is a loss and time to move on something else. I will be pulling my parts soon and hopefully look for a new car. Thanks for your advice

I have been in the same situation with cars before, you would be putting more into it than the car is worth. If the other person's insurance is covering it, which it should, you should make out with a decent check and go find another civic.

Also, I don't know about FL, but in IN the cops don't show up unless someone is hurt.

In FL, at least in Orlando, the cops expect you to call them for every accident. They always show up (though sometimes it takes them an hour to do so).

That's when you call again.

Hope it all works out for you.

Idk about the steelies. If they're 4x100 bolt pattern then yes. Rather small though.

That's the size of my rims....but yes if they are a 4x100 bolt pattern then they will fit. Just make sure they are that instead of 4x114
