I wanna run some Mild Boost on my D16a8

So, I want to run some mild boost on my basically stock D16a8 ZC motor.

It is in a 1991 Honda Civic.

I don't want to run massive amounts of boost, I am not trying to build a 500 hp car. I already have a 1990 Eagle Talon TSI AWD with 550 Hp that I built up myself. It is my Camaro and Mustang eater, as well as many other cars.

But that is not my point. I just want some suggestions, or if people are doing something similar if they could give me their set up details.

I plan on using the Civic as my daily. Right now I use my Talon as my daily and I love driving the thing, but there is so much work I would like to do to it and run it religiously at the track every weekend. But I can't when it is basically my only ride (besides the wifes) to work.

But I want my Civic to have a little get up to it, more than the stock DOHC ZC can offer. I'm not looking to overhaul the motor and replace the pistons and rods with forged. I just want to add a few horsies to it.

So if anyone out there that is running a fair to decent amount of boost on their stock D16a8 motor and would please share that information with me, I would forever be in your debt.

If you can please include as much information as you can.

I don't want to blow it up from boost, but I do want to be able to run it through the gears without holding anything back.

Thank you very much in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:

Same to you, if you hear or find any good setup information let me know and I will do the same.

I just want a little more out of the ZC. To make it a bit more fun to drive. I'd never build up a FWD Civic to anything like my Talon....the AWD in the Talon you just can't go without with all that power. At least in my opinion.

But ya, I want some more get up. I mean really, shouldn't have to mechanically change anything to run 7 or so PSI and that should get it enough to make it more fun.

It is said, through research I have found, that the stock D16a8 Rods and Pistons will survive up to about 200 HP. So if I can get 185 ish out of it, I will be happy.

Someone has done it..

jus get a basic turbo kit, and dont push more than 10 pounds, ull be good, get a turbo timer to help keep the turbo from gettin caked up wit oil, and ya kno the necessary things to boost if you got a TSI u should kno bout boost, so u should be good jus yea do a basic stage 1 or 2 turbo kit from peak boost or somthing.

^ you don't need a turbo timer to prevent that.. I thought most people already knew that, but I guess not.

I wouldn't buy a kit.. just piece something together, get it tuned properly and don't beat on it.. there's been plenty stock/close to stock D series running boost perfectly fine. The only thing I would worry about is if your motor already has a LOT of miles on it.

You sound like you have knowledge of turbo stuff since you have a 500hp talon... I'm confident you'll be able to pull this off.

Something you want to do first on the DOHC ZC is replace the paper stock HG with an MLS gasket and install a set of ARP headstuds.

Those motors make fair HP and a nice amount of torque on small turbo setups and a little boost.
