i was thinking about throwing a turbo on my d15 and it has about 80k on it... i was thinking about running like 6-7lb to it and was wondering if my engine would be able to take it as it is now, or if i should do pistons and rods first and new gaskets and seals, or just new gaskets... i wouldnt try to turn it up any more than that until i built it some but would it be able o handle it as is with ought problems??

i would pick up a d16z6 or y8 and do a vitara build. then you should be able to put down 300 easy

Which d15? If it's not the d15b (JDM), then ther's practically no aftermarket parts but, stock; you can push maybe 180 bhp max.

yea it is the d15b7... i thought that all the d15 motors where the same, but at least it is the jdm motor... where is a good place for me to get the pistons, rods, and other internals from?? that is the only thing that i havnt found yet

I believe d16 pistons fit just fine, not positive, but I know that d15 rods are very expensive as noone really makes them. The extra couple hundred for the rods for the d15 you could get a d16. The motor can max around 175-80 whp like said. you can run low boost on that motor, and instead of building that one, if you want more, either get a d16 220 whp max roughly or build it and get more.

going from 85 whp to 170 whp, will certainly make the car fun to drive though!

yea i am starting to notice that maby i should abandon the d15 and get something bigger... but the d16 is around 1k and a buddy or mine had a b16 that he said he would sell me for 1500 and i get the tranny and axles and ever thing to do the swap... but i dont know what way to go... i think that if i do swap it out i am going to probly just save a lil more and go with the b16

I know of a kid that turbo'd a ZC that had 300,000 miles on it...ran fine for two months on a street tune pushing 13lb's on stock internals.

thats a rip off for a b16 swap and definitely a rip off for that z6. some of the cheapest parts are in pheonix. z6's run 150 bare block w/crank and 50-100 for the head.

but as for your d15, you will be good for awhile with stock internals as long as you get a good tune. joe at locash is a reputable tuner. also www.fjdistributors.com has d15 rods for cheap.

cool well thanks for the help guys.... it is a b16a i called him today and asked... and he said that he would even do the swap for me i just have to help him... but i dont know if i should do that or take the 1500 and put it into my d15 and turbo it and do the internals and stuff... but what do you mean it is a rip off?? i thought that those motors went for like 2k??

seems like a good price to me for the B16.........the b16 will be able to make more power at lower boost......the b16 is also good up to 300whp on stock internals......then again for the price you can just build a eagle/vitara setup on a Z6 and push more hp than the b16 could stock....its all up to you bro

ive seen some go for 1k and couple others with lsd for 1200. seems like they're going back up in price since i last looked at them. if you were gonna go for a swap, get a ls. b16's are worthless swaps imo, they make worse torque than single cams.
