When its full (on the top mark), you have 4Q in the car (or w/e your car can hold). When its at the bottom line, you are 1Q low. Anything below that line, who cares, put oil in the car...
May I ask WHY you want to know the EXACT amount of oil in your car? EDIT: forget it, I saw 'just wondering'.
