Ignition Setups?

Hey just wondering what I could possibly do to upgrade my stock ignition for my boosted setup......Ive been SEARCHING online and came up with Electromotive and all MSD s**t. Whats the deal with the crank trigger ingitions? and distributor less igniton setups?? What route do you think I should go in? MSD SCI and some new wires? or what?

ya ive read stock honda ignition is good up to like 400whp.....

oh then im set then....Ive just been seeing alot of boosted hondas using MSD ignitions, and all these new crank trigger igntiions. I didnt know if it was recommended to upgrade ignition for boosted applications.

haha just got my fully rebuilt D16 back last night, ahhh im so excited to drop this in next week......im trying to get everything lined up for then. Thanks for the help

I just ordered an msd cap, rotor and separate coil for about 100 bucks. I heard stock ignitors go bad pretty often, no? Not to jack the thread but I was wondering the same as this guy. Now I gotta figure out how to put it on... These things are definitely different than Small block chevy's. hahah

To be honest, I've seen more MSD setups cause issues than stock ignition setups. Maybe its user error, but to me its just adding complications to a setup that normally is simple and works fine.

s**t. oh well. guess i'll be a guinea pig. I don't understand how it wouldn't work. Older cars used separate coils for generations... let alone muscle cars... hmm. i'll find out i guess.

yeah ive been seeing these crank trigger ignitions everywhere.....events etc. I like the why it looks and im seeing a kit from electromotive Tec3 for like 2800.00 Def dont have that sorta cash

Unless you are building a motor that is going to use AEM and can run a T1 cam trigger kit, just stick with the stock ignition.

I have tuned many many cars over 450+ whp using OEM distributors and never had a problem.

damn, well i jumped the gun and ordered it anyways. it was still cheaper than a rebuilt oem one, now I just gotta figure out how to wire the coil...
