How's it going everyone? I'm new to the site and don't know a lot about Honda's. I'm a Locomotive diesel mechanic and I'm in to all things with a motor. Right now I do not have a civic I'm looking to buy one to drive daily back and forth to work but I know I won't be able to keep it stock ha! I have always wanted one, I just think they are fun. Not the fastest cars out but I can't afford a Evo or WRX. I've never been in the Import seen, I've had a lot of vehicles but never a car. I'm looking to learn about civic engines and computes and how to make one go a little faster. I'm looking to buy a car and buy a engine and build it for a mild NA car! Right now in looking at a B16a vtech motor guy says it's out of a 99 civic ex...?? Help me out! :D

Hey loco, welcome to CC!

I'm personally not very knowledgeable about the B-series engines, but this might be helpful: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_B_engine#B16A_SIR-I_.28First_Generation.29

Looks like they're primarily in the 4th gen civics, specifically the 1989-91 CR-X SiR and 89-91 Civic SiR

You MIGHT be thinking about the B16A2, which comes out of both 5th gens (92-95) and 6th gens (96-00)

Just a helpful hint - VTECH is a kids' toy company. VTEC is a feature of Honda engines ;)

5th or 6th Gen civic...I got the motor yesterday on a gun trade with a P2T ecu which I saw that is a 99+ SI computer...Im looking to rebuild the motor...maybe stock internals or bore it 20 over maybe some forged pistons and rods but other than that I am just gonna do bolt ons...Intake Headers Ignition Fuel rail Exhaust and I wanna clean it up with a wire tuck on some sort. Maybe a cam while I got the motor apart and get the head worked for sure. Id like to get the car to 200hp but I don't know how hard that will be. The factory JDM engine says it has 168....

First off, :welcome:

Secondly 200hp on an N/A B16A2 is a respectable and smart goal. That can definitely be achieved, but will require some headwork/milling as well as bottom end work with bolt ons. Your plan of action should get you there no problem. It's a fun, expensive, and addicting hobby!

thanks ToykoSkies

Its just a plain B16A engine so it must be JDM SiRII I guess I dunno...I just know I can make it OBD1 or 2 or get 4th or 5th gen civic and use the P2T computer or P28 which I probably will go with a P28 because I like 95 civics and have no problem putting in...not like its ever been done ha
