Sooo Ive been pushing 200whp/188tq for about 2 months now, and 160whp for 3 months prior to that.

All on the OE spec Exedy clutch. It honestly held its own kinda like a BAUSS for the whole time. Only time it would slip (and thats being harsh) would be when I launched in first, shifted hard into second, then threw it into third and it would slightly slip. Other than that, smoked many N/A b series with high perf clutches.

It slipped really bad last night 2nd and 3rd.

I want an XTD Stage 3 clutch, does anyone have any hands on experience with them?
I dont care if its stiff, I just wanna chirp 1st through 3rd.

what are your torque numbers? clutches hold torque, not horsepower. if you're slipping, then your clutch isn't holding the amount of tq you're putting down. don't forget that clutches are tq rated at the flywheel, not the wheels.

188 lb*ft at the wheels with a rough 17% drivetrain loss would put you at a theoretical 220 lb*ft at the flywheel. check the ratings on clutches for something that can hold slightly above that

I happen to have a XTD Stg.3
It grabs hard and never slips unless it's me doing the slipping. I don't think I would trust it to boost though.
I bought it because I needed a clutch very soon and didn't have the money at the time for decent brand and didn't need anything that strong considering it's in my daily driver.

what my hmong friend here said... the springs in the clutch will dampen the engagement and soften any driveline shock and reduce clutch engagement noise. personally, i would stick with an organic material, rather than kevlar, ceramic, or ferramic, mostly because it will go back to its original condition if overheated.... overheat a kevlar clutch and it'll cook, not to mention possible issues with glazing while in stop-and-go traffic. i'd stick to a regular full-face clutch or the segmented/windowed ones... i've found puck/paddle style clutches to be extremely hard on your flywheel, especially when they start slipping. granted, they keep on going even under extreme heat conditions, but your flywheel gets the brunt of it.

anyway, not that many things to consider when choosing a clutch, other than surface area, construction material, and how sprung the pressure plate is. these will determine how much torque they can hold.

i highly recommend the exedy stage 2 for 200whp. it's exactly in the range of power youre making and is a perfect fit. i think its good for up to 300whp on a b-series so i imagine its somewhere close to that on a d-series.

make sure you actually do the 500 MILE BREAK IN PERIOD and the clutch should be fine.
