okay so...im posting yet again, the cars been on the road and its running decent...but after a few days of driving i look at my intercooler and notice that the right side (if you are looking head on), closest to the turbo, about half the IC is black-ish like oil. so i cleaned it off thinking maybe it was dirt, but then after a few days, it was back...anyone know what this might be? Oil leaking into my intercooler? If so how the hell do i fix that
Thanks guys you all have been really helpful

look inside your charge pipe between the turbo and the intercooler. if theres oil inside that tube, your turbo is blown, and you need to have it rebuilt. if its dry, then check for external sources of oil.

you would still make boost if you were leaking oil.

dude, just go outside with a screw driver, undo a coupler, and check for oil. stop guessing,j ust find out. oil doesnt magically appear on your car, it has to come from somewhere. if its not coming from your engine or your turbo, then somewhere that you drive must spray it on there. idk what else to tell you.

Think of oil to a car as blood to a human, without blood we would die, without oil you motor would die. If we are leaking blood it has to be coming from somewhere, find the cut and heal it. if you engine is leaking oil it is coming from somewhere find the leak and get it fixed. Seems like a turbo issue though.

also consider, that a little bit of oil, mixed with a lot of air pressure, will spread and look a lot worse than it really is.. so as handlebars said, go pull a charge pipe off and look in it..
Remember, you're boosting an NA motor, so you are stressing all the weak spots.. if the seals are leaking in the turbo, then you are placing oil right at the source of the increased air pressure.. Also, maybe your pcv valve is bad, causing too much pressure in the crankcase. many things can cause what you described.

like it was already said. yes you will still boost up. the seal that goes around the shaft is messed up. the only way to fix it is to get a new turbo or rebuild it. and if you have it rebuilt, send it off to a shop because unless you can properly balance the turbo, it will need to be replaced again in about 3 to 6 months.

what turbo is it? depending on if you have a t3/hybrid and shaft play, you'll have to replace the compressor backingplate.
