I'm so confused...

Alright... I recently dug up my old CD player out of my closet and decided to see if it would work. It's a Panasonic CQ-C8300U. Soooo I hooked up ground, constant and stuck the ACC wire into the fuse box to see if it powers up. Everything powered up, good to roll. I know that the channel for the sub and the int speakers was blown so I decided to hook up headphones to the front and rear pre-outs to see if they got anything. I stuck a CD in and i got music from both front and rear pre-outs. So everything is good right? Yeah not so much...

I wired all the speakers to an external amp and hooked up the channels to the pre outs on the headunit. I'm 95% sure that all my wiring is correct, but I didn't have enough wire to use several colors, so I used all black. The wires may be switched up, but that's something I'm gonna have to tackle this weekend.

Okay, now the problem. I start up the car, everything powers on, I put a CD in and nothing plays. I can see the timer counting up, but no music. I switch to 98.1 FM (only station i can pick up with a shaved antenna) and I get sound out of the rear speakers only.

I just don't know how a CD will play when you hook headphones up, but not when it's hooked to the amp, and then the radio plays only out the rear speakers?? I understand there's a lot of variables that I have yet to check out yet (wiring/amp issues), I'm just trying to get y'alls opinions. Maybe y'all will come up with something I haven't thought of yet.

Any input is welcome positive or negative.

where's the other five percent of your wiring?

It was reference to my confidence level of my wiring skills. The wires are run properly as far as my knowledge goes, but a connection could be loose/faulty or I may have swapped some wires around. Again, I'm not sure, I don't have time during the work week to attempt any troubleshooting.

I do thank your smart ass remark for the free bump. =)

so what you do next it put the head phones down by the amp to mare sure you are still getting signal down the RCA's to the AMP...if you arent...then try swapping front to rear RCAs to see if you can atleast get sound out of the front speakers...so then at that point you should know whether you are getting signal down atleast one of the sets of RCAS...

you might have a bad RCA...check that first...

but it doesnt explain why you dont get sound when you play a CD...

more info after troubleshooting please...

=)
