Hey guys, Sorry I know I'm new I'm not really much of a genius when it comes to cars. I innocently bought a 95 Civic Coupe from a guy a couple of years ago that has been nothing but hell since I got it. I didn't know anything really technical about cars until I got it...I've learned a little because pretty much everything has gone wrong with it. Now it has a problem that is not as crucial but is becoming very annoying because no one can fix it.
The idiot who owned my car before tried to do a ton of changes on it by himself even though he apparently knew nothing about what he was doing. This has been confrimed to me by countless mechanics who can't believe how messed up it is. For example, he lowered the car but didn't get the tires aligned afterward.
The current problem I have is that suddenly the taillights and dashboard lights no longer work when the headlights are on...but they work when the headlights are off. Obviously I need taillights in order to drive legally and safely. I know that this is a short in the wiring...however, two mechanics...one a general mechanic and one a certified mechanic who is known to fix just about any problems have each spent hours looking for the source of the problem but have been unable to find it. As a result, I can't get around after sunset and it's really becoming a pain. If anyone has any special knowledge about this stuff please help because after two months this is making me go pretty crazy.
Potential source...the moron who owned the car tried to install an alarm system and did a terrible job and I had the alarm disconnected because it didn't work. Also...the entire wiring system was a complete mess when I bought the car and I've gotten a lot of it rewired.
Thanks,
- Jordan
