i just put a downpayment on a carbon fiber hood for a 96 honda civic, i dont know the brand or w/e but the guy said that the hood requires installation using hood pins, even though it requires hood pins, is there any way that i could just install it to the stock hinges.

thanx in advance

you can bolt it up with the stock hinges just like your original hood.....but since it needs hood pins, that means that the front latch probably doesn't hold to well on its own. I wouldn't reccomend driving with the hood on and no hood pins....i've seen plenty of people bust windshields. If it were a good brand (Spoon, VIS, etc) then you wouldn't really need hood pins but its always good to be safe

You will need a friend, relative, girlfriend, anybody with an opposable thumb...to help with the install...All you do is raise the hood, unscrew the four bolts, (two per side), remove the factory hood, install the cf hood with the same four bolts that you just removed, then close the hood to check fitment...you might need to play with these bolts to get the hood to line up and latch correctly...but you'll see, once you get into it.
Here is a link to a good hood pin install: http://homepage.mac.com/twilkers/PhotoAlbum30.html
It's not a civic but same concept...trust me.
