i'm trying to install a rocker switch to turn on something that i put in myself... i'm new to wiring stuff and i tried searching but not sure what to look for... anyways the rocker switch has three prongs in the back... power, load, ground... now i'm not sure if i should wire it to the battery or some other wire anslo where each one goes besides the ground wire.... i tried hooking up the power to the battery, load to the devide and ground grounded to the chassis (not sure if i use the right wire)... well anyway wheni turned it on... the wires blew and melted... i wasjust wondering if anyone can correct what i'm doin so i dont' burn out all the things in my car... thanks

Well I am not that much better but anyway I got mine all to work, so you have the wires all hooked up? sounds like you had them on wrong, there should be + an - signs on the switch. Tthe + is postive so hook it up to something with 12v power, - is the ground so ground it lol , an usually it's acc I think that's your accessory the device you are trying to get working. What type of switch is it and what are you trying to get it to switch on? O an make sure you have no contact on the switch it self that none of the wires are touching wrap a pice of blacktape around it or shrink wrap it. If any of that stuff don't work we need more info.

hey man i did this in my car, so this is how i wired up all my interior neons, take your rocker and there will be 3 connectors, 1 will be ground one pos. and one the acc. or load, so connect your load one to whatever u want to wire up and turn on but remember that when you wire up the load that thing has to have a ground becuase you will wire up the items positive to the load. i hope it helps.
