Integra CD player code?

I'm having some trouble with a '98 Integra. The battery died awhile back and she got a jump. So it's running again, but the CD player's throwing a code. The first time she tried to turn the CD player back on it read out, "CODE". Then after she tried punching in some um... "random" numbers. It now will only read, "ERR-3," apparently. She understands she'll probably have to call the dealership and get help there, but can someone help point us in the right direction? I know with some Hondas you need to remove the CD player and get a code from the back of the deck. But is there anything else? Can someone confirm with me what needs to be done before contacting the stealership in order to make this as painless as possible? My sister thanks you for any help.

No, it's not it her manual. :???: Her manual lists some codes that your CD player might throw and this one isn't even listed.

looks like she got locked out. after inputting the radio code erroenously a number of times (i believe it is 5), the radio does not allow you to input any more codes. i believe disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it should reset the retry counter. if not, then she'll have to go to the dealership.

either way, the dealership will provide the code (for a cost) if you have proof of ownership

Price Honda has found things like that for me for free before. So I might have to make a call for her. They'll miss me anyways. :P

I'm not sure. I did send this link to her though so she can read any answers we might have for her. She hasn't even had time to call Honda (school, a job with long hours, lots of driving, etc) much less remove her CD player to see if there's a code.

there usually is one on the trunk lid.. i know the one for my car is at the bottom of my trunk lid. so... check that integra's hatch for a sticker..

btw, there is no way the code would be stamped nor stickered on the radio itself. the serial number, however, will be there. and honda dealerships will be able to use that

disconnect the battery, and reconnect it, aslong as it says code then we're good to go, but don't have her touch a button on the radio, once it says code have the radio taken out of the dash and get the serial number off the top of the radio and call me at work, it's the only way to get the code is by the radio's serial number.

Okay. I think she was hoping she wouldn't have to remove the CD player, but I'm confident she can figure out how to remove it (this should be the first time). She's getting pretty good with her car. =) Thanks Tom. I'll email your post to her to make sure she gets it. Oh, and it might be a little while until she calls. her name is Veronica.

I had the same problem with my accord when my battery died once.. but the code was hidden in the form of a sticker in my glove box.. I just had to snoop around and find it.. taking out the cd player seems like a pain in the ass, good thing I didnt have to do that..
