Integra or Civic

So my dad said that he'll give me 5 grand for my truck since I want to buy a honda. I've been searching around and found that there are some good deals out there on civics and integras. The only problem is I want a car that looks good and can still have a little power. I would be more than happy with a integra, and depending on the civic I get, I would want to do a motor swap. The only problem is my dad is against swaps in general. What are your guy's opinions?

Swaps are fine, it really just all depends on your mechanical capability. I had a 95 civic ex and decided I wanted something with a little more power so I had to decide if I wanted to swap in a b-series or get another car. I went with a 1995 integra ls. Comes stock with a B18B1. Good deal of difference going from a SOHC to a DOHC.

It really all depends on you and your preference. Civics are fun cars to drive and I like them but personally I'm happier with my integra. Just a little more sporty in my opinion.

But like i said, it's all up to you.

I haven't had my LS for very long so I can't comment on the dependability of them, though mine's brought me no problems and cranks every time. (I do have some friends with LS Integras that have had them for a while and have no complaints)

But they're non-vtec. My 95 ex was vtec but it was a D series so the crossover wasn't anything special. So I'm not too sure on what I'm missing out on by not having vtec. But it's plenty fast without it.

But for 5 grand you shouldn't have a problem finding a gsr. Which come with B18C's which are vtec.

Integra.
IMO, better overall fit and finish and come with all the little bells and whistles, plus the GSR comes with the vtec motor, the rock solid b18c1.

Well I'm in south west Kansas, and there isn't much here. There's only 2 other teggys in town, and one was just bought, and the other is a 4 door. Thats a no no. I might look in Wichita for some also.

GSR is the way to go my friend OR you can look for a CIVIC Si aswell not as fast as the GS-R with the B18c1 but it does have a DOHC B16a2 and trust me HONDAS are very reliable(that includes Acuras as well).

Sweet, thanks everyone. So lets say I bought a turbo teg, what would I need to go back to non turbo since I most likely can't keep up the maintence?

Research what you would change to make it a turbo. (manifold, intake, exhaust) and replace with factory or aftermarket components of your choice.
