I just switched my gauge cluster, climate control, and ashtray bulbs all to red/amber, looks hot. I like how the ashtray light is red, looks nice when i open the tray. So anyways, I was thinking of doing my dome light red too, thought it would look clean, jdm steeze. What about buying a new stock bulb from wherever and painting it with spraypaint? Just like the DIY red/amber cluster/climate control lights? Just a thought. It wont fade like sharpy.

superbrightleds.com or something like that...

they have the type of bulb required for the dome light. you take the stock one out and put the new one in. same shape it just comes with like 4 little led's on it.

Go get one of these at Northern.

gut it and fit the LEDs to the dome light housing. It'll take some fabrication but nothing overwhelming
wire it up to the brakelight side.
Voila'! bright ass long lasting red LED domelight.

^lol that's a bit extensive, you'll probably have better luck creating a rig out of scratch

It's not that extensive.

Just gut the LED board and wiring from the housing, discard the housing, and fit it into the domelight recess. It's already wired up for 12V so you won't even need to worry about soldering in a resistor. And you can even wire it up to have two different brightnesses.

And once the LEDs are installed, mount one of these on your roof:
