ok guys i bought a no name brand adapter for my pioneer stereo (its an old model like 3 yrs old) but it has a power and a ground to it, so my question is is it ok if i ground it to the back of the stereo itself and if a splice the power to the 12v wire in the stereo would it always be on causing my battery to drain out? or what power would you guys suggest thanks

Well, I doubt anything like that would drain your battery. Nevertheless, you could splice it to your 12V+ assessory wire, which only gets power when the car is turned on. As well as the ground, you can splice it in or just attach it to bare metal.

12v accessory would be any power source that is only hot when the key is in either accessory or run position. You could either use the cig lighter or the red lead on the back of your aftermarket radio.
