Is It Just Me?

Is it just me or are parts for the 6th gen Civics, and hatches in particular, getting harder to find? I'm talking about used parts. It doesn't seem to make a difference what part I'm looking for, none of the yards around here have what I'm looking for. This is getting stupid!!!! :x

It's ridiculous. The only car in the yard that has what I'm looking for and they won't part it out becuase they want to sell it complete.

I can only find sedans.

And I need a front clip and some qtr panels to patch my rust

I need 1/4's too. One yard has a 99 Civic Coupe they only want $500 for so I may just either sell this hatch and go with the coupe or have both a hatch and a coupe. I don't know. It sucks becuase I just got my exhaust for my hatch yesterday....

My hatch is ugly and beat, everyone keeps asking why I don't sell it, but it's a b18b swapped si

And I'd rather spend 2000$ to fix mine then spend 1000$ for a shell with different problems

My bodyman told me the car isn't worth putting the work into. I have rust around the windshield too though...plus it has 233,000 miles on it...

Just depends on your area. I have a huge selection of sixth gen parts around me. Craigslist part outs, junkyards, pull a part, etc. I also live near the city though, so that may play a big role. Do you live far from any major cities? I'm thirty minutes from my state's capital. Atlanta.

I have rust in the rear fenders and a majorly tweaked core support..

But I'll spend the money cause I like my hatch and I can't find another si for less then 4k

So if I have to put 2k into mine then I guess that's what it takes =)

This was two months ago

This is now, still needs core support work, the new one is cock eyed :(

Junk yards take it what they can get wrecked. These cars 00 and under are 13+ years old. Less are on the road, less are wrecked, less make it to the junk yard before the crusher.

Agreed. Its just a matter of time before common parts become scarce. Fortunately, at least there are plenty of companies fabricating aftermarket fenders & such. Interior door panels availability will become an issue though. Thats why I reinforced the hell out of my door panels. No worries of wear&tear cracking there.

Theres a good chance Civics may go along the lines of classic VW Bugs or Mini Coopers; too many to classify a classic but too much interest to loose significant value. 30+ year old bugs still go for $4000-$5000 in good condition in South Florida.

^^^ I have a beat bodied eg hatch in my garage right now that i'm doing a motor rebuild + turbo on. Already took 80% deposit of the $5500 agreed price. Totally stock everything except random coil overs, turbo related gauges, and the turbo components. The body is spray painted orange for pete sakes!! LOL... OVER FIVE GRAND!!

I payed 400 for mine with a b18b in it, but it's got major core support issues, a mismatched door, rust in both qtrs and some good sized dents.. But I figure for 2k I can fix it and still be below the 3500-4k avg for a "decent" one

I don't ever see these cars bringing high dollars. One of the benefits of these cars, or so I thought, was the commonality of them. There are so many around, you would really think finding parts would not be much of an issue. I'm finding out otherwise though.
I'll just have to see how much I can do with what I can find around here. Worst case scenario is I dump another $500 on the coupe at the local yard and go from there....

Remember that our cars are considered old. More and more cars get stolen, totaled, or sold.
