a buddy of mine just swapped in a JDM b18c it is obd1 so he had to convert the ecu to obd1 also. he does have a obd1 p72 that i assume is jdm because its small and square.

But the problem is he cant rev it past about 6000 rpm and vtec doesnt seem to work, what is the problem???

does he need a p72 or a p73 ??? I thought about putting my chipped p28 in there and just find some JDM b18c maps, but which map do i need????????? thanks

He should be able to use the JDM P72. My guess is the car is throwing a CEL which isn't letting him rev past 6 K or something similar. So if it is throwing a code check it.

he also had a mechanic tell him he needs a vtec pressure switch (which obd1 doesnt have). but does he need it with that JDM ecu???

The JDM ecu doesn't look for a vtec pressure switch.. does the car throw a CEL?

ok, he does have a CEL.

I checked the codes and they are 41 and 22. (o2 sensor and vtec pressure switch)

Why the heck is it looking for a vtec pressure switch?????? its an obd1 JDM p72
