well your in the 5th gen section...92-95 are all obd-1...the ecu is obd-1...you have the correct motor for the ecu...yes it is plug and play...but you might like it and might not...pending on the chip settings on the p28 for example vtec engagement..fuel settings...redline...best thing to do...plug it in...try it out...

im going to say yes you wasted your money. but that is based on the assumption (yes i know what an assumption means) that your chipped ecu has been tuned to your motor. and if thats the case then yes you wasted your money buying a jdm p72

well the p28 ecu doesn't control the iab at all..i'm guessing the jdm p72 does?? but i don't know where vtec engagement or redline is on that ecu..
on the other hand, the chipped p28 ecu were chipped to set vtec at 4500rpm and fuel cut off at 8500rpm..

the weird thing is, if i accelerate fast then my gauge read vtec engage at 4000rpm..but if i slowly step on the gas pedal and let the rpm needle go slowly up then it read at 4500rpm for vtec engagement??
what could be the problem?? i have an after market radiator, it's thicker then oem..like 1.5in..i don't know if that make a diff..

no bro vtec work on your oil pressure..like it now when your racing think of like that.Oil and how much air pressure it reads.and put that p72 if you dont want to see that GSR go to waste...all a chipped ecu does is dump a s**t load of fuel and f**k up your engine...my boy has gone through three GSR till he learned his lesson.

No not always. Depnds on the build, NA, turbo..tune. You can change your vtec engament, such as a vtec controller. And too much fuel doesn't f**k up a engine..

vtec engagement is dependent upon oil pressure. So basically when you're stepping on it vtec will engage. My friend has a gsr mated to an ITR tranny. Going 80 on the freeway= 5.5k rpms in 5th gear but vtec is not engaged b/c of the throttle position during cruising. If he plants his foot in 5th you can hear and feel vtec engaging. You're seeing vtec kick in at 4000rpms b/c you're chipped which makes sense.

i'm just gonna pop the jdm p72 ecu in when i get it tomorrow or thursday and see what happen..it is possible to tune with a stock jdm p72?? or do i have to get something else like hondata s200 or something like that in order to get it tune with my current mods??

thanks

obd1 p72 can be tuned. download chrome and by yourself a rom burner and make your own roms for the ECU. Chrome comes with plenty of basemaps that you can setup for your application

well i put the p72 in last night..drive it to work this morning and got an CEL..need to get the code pull to see what's up..the p28 didn't know any cel at all..i don't know..oh yeah, vtec on the p72 is at 4400rpms EVERYTIME..regardless of how soft or hard i floor it..

stick a paper clip in the test port under the dash near ECU i am pretty sure it is green. Then turn the car to start but don't start...count how many times the CEL flashes thats your code. Long flashes = 10 short flashes = 1. Example one long flash with short will = 11 Not sure if u knew this already but just in case

knock sensor.. cel is for that..the guy i went to said he can chip it and it'll clear the cel..then upload a jdm p72 map onto it..

I wouldn't get rid of the knock sensor, its something that is good to have. Just see if it is plugged in. It is the single wire plug on the back of the block. It could also have gone bad. By a new one. Even if you chip it with a p72 jdm map it is still going to be looking for a knock sensor.

well we looked closer at the knock sensor and there's no wire or plug, plugging into the sensor..so i gotta go back to the shop on sunday so he can rewire the knock sensor to the ecu..so now i'm driving w/out it...i can always pop the p28 in until then..so i need to see if i can find the harness plug that plug onto the sensor and run the wire to the ecu so everything will work again.

oh yeah, he said he can still chip it with an aftermarket chip so i can tune it later down the road if i want..but for now i just want to fix the cel..

problem solved..got a different sensor harness..run some wire from that to the ecu..my guy pin a new pin for the sensor wire..plug everything in..warm up the car, go for a test drive..hit vtec a few times..no more cel..perfect..everything was free..since he did the swap in the beginning so did it for free..plus it's only a sensor harness and a few foot of wire..nothing big..
