I just painted my friends cluster bulbs blue.. i did 2 coats and let it dry for a good while, when he put everything back in and turned the cluster on.. it came out really light in color.. almost a turqoise color. can someone explain why it came out so light?? do you have to get a dark blue paint for it to be a darker shade of blue?? :???:

Put more layers. I think the light is bright enough that it goes through the color itself and makes it look lighter than it seems.

I've read a lot of DIY's for amber clusters and people go to town when they spray the bulbs. They look almost dark brown but light up a nice amber.

I'd really recommend replacement bulbs. We tried painting bulbs first for our gauge clusters and the paint ended up flaking off. The new bulbs won't do that.

i painted mine amber to match the original color of the stock gauge cluster and it came out perfect. no flaking or anything. but with the heat of the bulb, you do risk them flaking or burning out faster. but oc did it perfectly!!!

well today i finally connected my bulbs up... i did 8 coats of blue.. and let it dry over a 2 day period in between coats..

ended up turning out to light up light blue instead of the somewhat " neon blue " i was after..i think they look like absolute s**t imo..so for those who said LED's where better i solute you!!!.. so im gonna spend about $ 3 at pepboys and get regular WHITE blubs.. and just go back to stock.

thanks for all the info you guys gave me..
