 i was doing a lil reading and i came to this conclusion...tell me if my theory could be right... my car idles at 1500 everytime i start up the car and my car basically eats gas quicker then a fat man sweating running up stairs, so i changed the tps i changed the ect switch and put air filters all over...and still the same...as i was reading i read that if a car is cold...it will idle at 1500...and more gas and oil will be pumped...so i'm guessing...that my thermostat is f**ked and thats the reason why my spark plugs r fouled out and the reason i'm gettin low mpg and y my car scans rpms after a long day of driving! the car just had a gasket job, u think my conclusion is right? i'm gonna change the pcv valve to just incase.

it's completely normal for a honda to idle high during the winter, so i think you are worrying over nothin, and how'd you change the tps sensor when you cant get the tps from honda replaced without getting the whole throttlre body replaced, and the aftermarket does not offer it either.

i ripped off a throttle body from another civic and grinded the nuts off..and then replaced it on mines =]. My car idles at 1500 the whole ride though...thats so not normal =[

they're nifty places called "wrecking yards" that sell parts off of old automobiles.
auto building 101, putting brand new parts on a 10+ year old car IS NOT WORTH IT!

hmmm... have you tried taking it to a mechanic? you'll end up saving alot in the long run instead of swapping nickle and dime parts onto it untill you've spent enough to buy a NEW FREAKIN MOTOR

ok asses, i have heard of grinding down the nuts and using a used tps, but the problem with that is lining up the tps so the ecu see's the correct voltage, which is not easy, and thus could be your problem either way, my suggestions is have the electronic air control valve on the intake manifold replaced or just tested, but keep in mind, if it's still cold outside it's still going to idle higher at start-up during colder months regardless.

ya i nkow its supposed to start up at a higher rpm but its also supposed to go down when the engine gets warm...im still goin with my gut sayin its the thermostat not pickin up that the car is warm, and i put the tps sensor the same way the factory was on by markin the spots and bolting where the gasket had the holes =] hopefully i did it right, if this doesn't work then i'm takin it to a dyno =[

all cars idle higher when they start up to warm up the motor why would you not want to warm up the motor, you can try to stop it from doing this but your guna cause more trouble and waste more money than its worth. i just dont get why you would want to
