Keep Turbo Setup with Engine Swap?

This is probably a noob question, but I don't know very much as far as forced induction goes. If you turbo an engine, how difficult is it to swap the engine after? Are you going to be able to keep all parts you got for the turbo? If not, which can you keep and which ones would you have to switch out?

Just wondering because way down the road (definitely not now, just want to get facts together), I may turbo my D16Y8. But then from that point, how difficult would it be to swap a B or any other engine and keep the turbo? Or at that point is it time to buy another Civic and start right off with the swap?

Also, what about all that with a supercharger? Sorry, it's a lot of questions, but I'm just trying to get my facts straight.

A D-series manifold wont fit on a b series.. you could keep the turbo, wastegate, blowoffvalve, maybe the piping, intercooler, injectors...

hope that helped a little

A lot of stuff will be different if its a different engine.
for example the manifold and charge piping will prolly differ.

Hmm, ok. Thanks for that info. What about for superchargers?

im not trying to bash on you but have you ever thought about building your D16Y8?? caz if you do so, its much cheaper or the same cost but a whole lot of power :what:

Thanks for the input, but I'm mainly just asking for knowledge's sake. Any major power mods are probably a year away for me. I figure that right now I might as well learn about all my options.

like they said, you'd have to replace the manifold, which in turn may require you to modify the charge piping if the turbo gets moved around at all. other than that most everything should still bolt up ok. supercharger would be similar, except of course the manifold. the brackets would be different, the pulley belt, you'd need a complete header/downpipe for the new motor, maybe some other stuff too i dunno

i wouldnt swap the motor you have now....instead of paying for a new b series motor and all the parts to make it work....i would just build that d16 you have now....put some new pistons and rods in it...better headgasket....arp headstuds....port and shim the oil pump....then you can run more boost on the d16....like 350whp worth =)

Yeah, I was mainly just asking to get an idea of my options, I'm not planning on doing any major power modifications for at least a year. Thanks for the input, though.
