i am looking into getting the OEM remote to lock and unlock my doors. but my question is does it matter what year its from? i have found many that are for 2001-2004 and many other years also ones that say they are for civic and element and all that good stuff but my question is will this work with my 2000 civic ex? does it matter what one i buy? they all look the same the basic lock, unlock and panic button on it. does it really matter what it says its for? also programing is easy or hard?

Honda OEM electronic keyfabs are programmed with their associated car. Most car audio places should be able to program a new keyfab with your current car. So.. check it out =)

Get the second item. It's brand new plus it comes with instructions which is pretty easy. Just remember you have to sync all the keyless entries even the one you have right now when you program it. It something like turning your key in the ignition 3 times or something like that. I did mine 2 years ago. I checked with the ebay store I bought it from but they turns out he's not selling it anymore.

Get the second one. Even though they look the same since the FCC codes are different it might not work. I don't know for sure but just spend the extra few bucks to make sure. Programming is easy, you get in the car and turn the key to the accessory position a few times while pressing the lock button IIRC. Just search for it, there are instructions out there...

I never bothered checking the reviver box. I just bought 2 remotes on ebay which turns out to be a Honda dealer and programmed it and worked. I'll check out my car later and see the ID of the box.

There's another thread on this in the 6th gen section. But yes, it works. I have the same exact car as yours and my fob number ends in 106.
