Keyless Entry

I have a 2003 Civic Lx coupe. When I purchased the car, it came with an after-market keyless entry. I recently lost the remote and bought online a Python 474p (95% sure its the same remote I lost). I got it in the mail today and have tried every programming option I could find and nothing worked. I popped off some panels under the dash and couldn't find the unit itself. Any suggestions/ advice would be great.

Is there a valet button or something under the dash about where the fuses are?

I just checked and I do not see a valet switch anywhere. I should mention however, that I am using an aftermarket stereo. Anymore advice would be much appreciated.

well when programming a new remote there is usually a button located somewhere in the car to program or modify the programming of the aftermarket stereo. Do you have the owners manual? On my other honda the aftermarket alarm came with a valet button that is utilized whenever any programming needed to be done.

Aftermarket stereos shouldnt interfere with aftermarket alarms...(I think, someone might know for sure)

Is it possible that it is a factory alarm system and the remote was replaced with an aftermarket one before i got it? I still cannot find a valet switch.

Ok, I had some more time this morning to look for the actual unit itself. I found it and its a Python 1400 XP. I also found the valet switch and checked to make sure it is still hooked up. Anyone know how to program this specific model?

Well if youve found the valet switch try this:

turn the ignition on.
Press the button once.
Press it again a second time but hold the button this time and when it chirps then you press the lock button on the new remote.
(I think to exit the programming mode you hold the valet switch once more until it chirps, not sure though)
Try that. If not just google it. Im sure its online somewhere and if not then if need be i will look at my owners manual for my alarm(not the same alarm but i would imagine they work the same)

So I gave that a try and I heard no chirps nor is the indicator light blinking at all (come to think of it, i never heard any chirps with the old working remote). Is it possible that this system was installed for the sole purpose of unlocking the doors and not even using the alarm?
