Alright I have a loose battery cable in my car and it broke on me, I had the keys in the ignition and are turned once before starting the car. So I closed the door went and connected the cable and now my doors are locked. I am stuck in a parking lot asking for help and I live 6 miles away and don't want to leave my car with the keys in the ignition. Is there anyway I can unlock the doors from the engine bay?? Need help fast cause it sucks sitting in this parking lot alone:(. I drive a 99 em1

just get a hanger and stick it in between the window/frame and try to pull the lock. only way i got it to open when i did by rushing like an ass -.- so just have patience OR call a locksmith/tow company they'll be able to do it; for a fee of course

Mexicans are going to be hard to find in cold weather, and I don't have a hanger. I'm just gonna wait 40 more minutes till I get my spare key gets dropped off to me

I dont think the police do that anymore, at least they stopped here in FL ... Maybe they still do it in some states. The reason was that after they opened the car for people they would end up suing the City for damages, some people are f'ed up like that. They do you a favor and service and then you go sue, wtf is this world coming to.

Anyways, just wait the 40 minutes until your spare keys arrive. If you didnt have spare keys then it'll be a different story.

I didn't even know it was possible to lock your keys in a 6th gen. It is in my car atleast. I can't open my door without first unlocking it, and I can't manually lock it with my finger with the door open. Only way I could think of for me is to lock them in my trunk.

^ That is all true for all 6th Gens, however, in his case the battery cable came loose ... He left the keys in the ignition turned to the "accessories" or "on" position, then he propped his hood open, closed his door and reconnected the battery cable. Upon continuity the system locked the doors since the ignition was turned. That's how they got locked in.

Unfortunately they are all throughout Europe. They are working on bringing them over to the states. You know regulations and stuff. :(

isn't there an ignition or accessory fuse??? when the signal from the ignition or acc wire is interrupted is when the car opens the doors, so just take apart that fuse to interrupt the signal

there's a trick to lock the door manually you just have to pull a little the handle (like the half of the way) and push at the same time the lock and thats it, i have done that with a buddy's car i were waiting in the car without the keys and i had the go to the bathroom so I close the car by this way

The problem is all solved. What happened was my negative battery cable broke and when I touch each end of the wire I would be able to start the car. So my dumbass turn the key forward once and closed the door, connect the cable and the doors locked. I just went to pep boys and got a new cable.
