that is correct (if you wanted another opinion)...

yea its best to run at 1 ohm....if u go to 2 or 4 it loses watts....u can prolly run it at .5 for burps but thats only for comp.

k I was just wondering...a local audio shop told a buddy of mine that he needed to wire his dual 4 ohms to 1 ohm because his amp would only support 1 ohm (his amp being the kx1200.1). I told him he DEFINETLY needs to find another audio shop. All of this came up because after the re-wired his subs for him the "correct" way, they began smoking and blew...I guess the only way he could hold the shop liable is if he could prove that by putting it to a 1ohm impedence was making way too much power for his subs huh?

yeah it can run at 2 and 4

theres another thing...2 - 4 ohm speakers can only be wired to be 8 or 2 ohms, unless you add a resistor in the mix as well

right but 2 DVC 4 ohms can be wired to a 1 or 4 ohm load

I went to kicker's site and looked at the specs and they only listed the 1 ohm...hence why I ask on here. Thanks for the info.

the problem isnt that the amp is too much power the problem is obviously your friend has no clue on how to tune an amp. He might as well thrown the subs into a mcamp fire.

well a 'shop' tuned it for him. I just doubt the expertise of the shop...

Tuning an amp???? Wha? :what:

Just bump the frickin gain back a smidge form 100% (if your speakers can handle what the amp gives RMS), If the amp has a crossover, throw it on 70Hz if its for a subwoofer and you are done....

Tuning has nothing to do with Impedence (which is what the thread is about)
