Theres kids at school that have stock civics and I got my 99 civic. Compared to kids civics at my school and mine, mines way cleaner than anybodys. Anyway mines an automatic and theres are stick shifts. There always like i'll beat u in a race and I told them that you would probably have to be good at shifting to really make a difference in time. Somebody tell me if i'm wrong or right.

unless the kids are completely inexperienced in driving the manual trans will win every time... automatic honda transmissions are the complete opposite or anything performance based... the manual trans lets them rev a lot higher and helps them stay in the area where the car makes power..
unfortunately having a "clean car" means NOTHING when it comes to speed...
i would save your money and seriously consider a trans swap as pointed out.. having had my civic for a long time i can honestly say one of the best parts was being able to rev the s**t out of it.. lol

well. a manual transmission allows you to use just about all the power the motor is ouputing. is some cars, automatic transmissions do not let the motor even come close to redline(unsafe high rpm). in a race you want to take full advantage of all your power, and a manual transmission i think does a better job at that. if this is something you didn't know or were'nt sure of you should research pros and cons of AT and MT.
on the counter note, they may also rev it to 8krpm because the cluster says it'll go that high, even though it doesn't make power up there. Thus making the car actually go slower.
if they ever REALLY get under your skin... and you ever get tired of the civic and want to try something different.. you COULD sell the civic.. buy an automatic 5.0 mustang... you will have money left over.. with that you will buy a nitrous kit and some sticky rear tires.... then you can tell them how your automatic would rape their manual cars.. lol

im really thinking about sellin my car and gettin a camaro. Idk though I really like the honda's its just theres to many fags that think there honda is the s**t and it can barely start.
Fox body mustang.. its a SUB 3000lb car, the thing only weighs about 600lbs more than an EX civic.. with a pretty nasty V8 in it (300lbs of torque STOCK)... if you JUST want to go fast in a straight line.. beat people at traffic lights and s**t... its a REALLY good start..
i have to tell you i always loved stick shift in my car (civic).. BUT going to a mustang.. one of the coolest things was automatic trans, BUT it still being quick.. lol i swear an automatic 5.0 is the most mindless car in the world.. its built for a f**king cave man.. want to go faster? MASH the pedal.. and it goes..
In the long run whoever wins still puts down 100hp to the wheels..
