Labors Cost Suspension Job

Hello All,

I did a search and went through the first 3 pages of results before posting this so I apologize if this has been asked by others.
I'm currently looking to upgrade my springs/dampers with the Eibach Pro-System (if anyone uses these what's the ride like?) but am not in a position to do it myself for now . I was wondering what a reasonable cost for labor would be to change the factory springs/dampers in a state like GA? I've asked performance shops before and recall being quoted ~ $600.00 for JUST labor- that can't be right can it?

1997 Civic LX 5spd

Thanks in advance

Labor rates are well over $60/hr. So
ten hours would equal $600.

I would think you could find sonebody to do it locally for $200. I would do it for $200-250 if i was local.

Put an ad on CL. Its really not that hard.

Oh wow okay. Did not realize a job like that could run 10 hours. Thanks for the quick reply though, might just hit up CL like you suggested

It really shouldnt. Ive had them take 12 hours because of siezed and rusted bolts. But ive also done fronts and rears in around two hours. So im sure they quote high.

Toom me n 3 friends of mine to it in 4hours. We had issues with rusted bolts. We also replaced the rear lower control arms. I bought a case of beer for us to split ;)

I just changed all 4 struts on my 98 civic the other night in around 1.5hrs its not hard, with a jack and basic tools it can be done. I would gladly do it for someone for $100.

Just because a job is easy doesn't mean that some people don't have the time or facilities to do the work. My dad is very capable of doing his own tune ups or oil changes but he doesn't do them because he doesn't have the time anymore.

The quote for $600 really depends on shop rates and doesn't really sound that far off. It was quoted at the top that shop rates run around $60/hr? Might be the area, but around here there aren't shops that are under $100/hr from what I have seen. Our shop rate just went up to $150/hr. Now if you have it at $100/hr that would put it at a 5 1/2 hour job (+tax) which is pretty reasonable.
