I just notice last night in my drive way spots of a possible oil leak so i pop open the hood and i see lots of muggy oil residue aroud the distributor cap, around the oil pan , i have no clue were the oil leak might be coming from i took my car to the mechanis and he told me there a small leak between the transmission and the engine any other suggestion.

Under the distributor suggests distributor o-ring. On the oil pan suggests oil pan gasket. The oil pan gasket is probably likely. I had to replace mine and when I pulled it off, it was solid as a rock and crumbled.

The easiest way to check the rear main seal is to drop the transmission. It'd be right there in your face. I've heard people peep in somehow but I still don't understand that.

"peep" as in "look"

One more thing do you suggest me to degrease the hole engine down to have a better idea where the leak is coming from.

1st--don't believe 90% of what a mechanic says. They're normally wrong and just want your money.
2nd--the ring is about $10
3rd--get a couple cans of carb cleaner and just spray the block down and then drive it for a few days to see where it's coming from for sure.

******WARNING*******
Carb cleaner is highly flammable and hurts to inhale and will also give you an instant, very dizzy high. Make sure you do this in a well ventilated area. Carb cleaner is anywhere between $3-$5 pending where bought from.

Do what kelly said if theres oil all in the bay and other places theres no real way to see where its coming from. Clean it all off and then you will be able to see where its coming from.
