LED install
$0.35 per led
Install time = ~an hour and half
Skill Level = Moderate, (patience, steady hands)

i took the cluster apart like in the other tutorials, but just replacing the bulbs with Leds have given me hot spots. all in all i used about 15 led's in the install of the main cluster alone...

G-timer GT-1 by Escort
Paid around 60 bucks shipped
Install time = ~5 mins
Skill Level = EASY

So this is a neat little thing to have in your car if u like to drive fun. I have it mounted right by my speedometer but not obstructing the view of my tach, (not like it matters, its auto, lol, swapping this winter).. but this little thing will tell you how many g's u pull in accelleration and decelleration, and lateral forces (left and right).... i havent calibrated it yet but this also lets you do timed runs. so it calculates your 0-60 and ur horsepower. its pretty neat

heres a few pics. i also did my CTR carbon bezel, and blue led conversion

where do you get the wired LEDs from? or do you set them up yourself?

the oznium ones that arent pre-wired are 35 cents.. and u buy a resistor for each led, so it comes out to like 40 cents each led...

i just used regular blue 5mm led's...

hmm, that works. but http://www.oznium.com/prewired-leds is cheaper and more variety of colors.

i was just wondering where he got the $0.35 per LEDs from.

i payed $4 i think for each pre built bulb.. you have to remember what im paying $4 for is 6 LEDs a base to make it plug and play and the resistor all prewired.. when mine goes out i simply pop out the bulb and put a new one in.. with ones that are hard wired in you are going to need to rewire it each time you lose a bulb..

so the ones at the site you stated are "better" for less of a hassle?

IMO yes.. they are also good about swapping out ones that come in bad... they are also easier to replace since they are direct plug in...

i DONT think his are bad.. he did a great job.. but i think my method is slightly more practical..

edit: correction it was $3.50 for a 6 LED bulb WITH housing AND resistor prewired.. direct plug in.. VS $2.40 so a dolor more for plug and play.. and ease of replacement..

hmm... i tried looking through the site to find what you were talking about but the only prewired one i see is $2.99 + $1 for any other color other than red or yellow AND that's just for one.

maybe i'm blind... :what:

yeah i agree with OC. his setup is definetly more practical if u wanted to change colors or even if leds burn out (after a long long time). the reason i went with the hardiwire setup is because somehow the cluster lights dont light up, like the connector on the base of the bulbs are broken. so i opted to put in leds inside the cluster.

if my cluster lights were in working condition, i would have definetly went the way Oc did. adding a few more to eliminate the hotspots of course...
