OKay, I have made my decision and my next mod is TURBO.

I want to build one from scratch including inercooler, pipes, etc...everything, and hopefully save some money than buying a kit. Since I had no idea what a turbo even looked like until I joined CC, I came for your advice(ONLY if you know what your talking about).

I wanta pretty good size turbo, but SAFE enough to be a daily driver on STOCK internals(THIS IS IMPORTANT SINCE I CANT AFFORD ANOTHER CAR OR ENGINE), maytbe about 6-9 psi. I want the turbo to have ALL psi built by 3K-35K rpms, with MINIMUM turbo lag.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Turbo is for d16y8 if you didnt know.

All I have to say is that it will be alot of work your first time around. I found the most challenging part was the fuel management. I ended up useing UBERDATA which is free, but you need to spend time learning how it works. There is a great article here on how to chip your ECU

As for the turbo, you are talking small boost so basically any turbo that you can bolt on should work. Oh yeah and I hope you have a shop to work in.

Once I get the whole setup I am going to have it profesionally installed, there's no telling what I would get into if I did it myself.

if you cant install a turbo kit.. i very, very, very highly reccomend you DO NOT try to build you own kit. if you dont know what goes into making one work, i can guarantee that you will mess up in buying the parts. just buy a kit and make your life easy, the chances that you succede in creating a good custom kit are slim to none with your knowelge or lack of it.

The price you spend trying to build your own kit, will more than likely be equal to that of a GReddy kit. Just go with the kit...

I would just buy a greddy turbo kit. 2 guys in my area are runnin with 10 psi daily drivers. One guy is auto too and he has no problems. Yeah just do some more research, and go with what you can afford.
