i stand on concret floors for roughly 10 hours a day for work. i have arthritis in my feet, ankles and knees. when i stand for that long my feet swell up pretty bad and i get stiff and it hurts like a b***h. anyways i need a good shoe thats comfortable to stand in for that long. iv had some from shoes for crews before and they were crappy. google searches have brought up nike shox. anybody had any reviews on them? what would you guys recommend?

Get some nice running shoes like Saucony or Brooks. They'll probably run you about $100 but if they make you feel better it's worth it.

My ex is a nurse and she LOVES these. They are pricey and aren't too fashionable but they are excellent for 15 hour days on your feet.

The guys in the shop at our work use those new skechers that have a rounded sole.

They seem to love them and I think they're pretty affordable...

if anything just get custom orthotics, that will fix most problems. they make most shoes one hundred times better. if not like posted before running shoes.. what kind of work is it. if you can most work boots are great for this. i love my timberland pro i wear them every day and they kick ass. i like my new balance. how often do you replace your shoes? i work a nice pair of eco shoes, when working as a bartender, teh shoes lasted 2.5 years and were awesome too.

i hate crocks with a passion. been looking into dr. martens work boots. last pair of shoes i bought was about an hour ago lol. i bought another set of nike vxt or something like that. they lasted for a year of half ass decent comfort. plus iv been using dr scholls work inserts. they make a world of diffrence. any my work is basiclly standing around for 10 hrs a day stuffing pillows. sounds retarded but its a job that pays half ass decent

joey those things suck, there is not much "customness" to them. honestly if you have a issue like plantar facitius, go get medically prescribed orthodontics, they will fix your problems, if your standing for 10 hours in one place a day your employer should be provided a standing pad, osha demands it. are you unionized? if so, go to the union office and ask what they recommend, if not, ask your coworkers, sorry to say this but the ugly shoe will be the best for you, it almost always is.

I liked them... and read a lot of good reviews about them too.

Now I'm sporting Vibram Five Fingers, but I don't know how good they'd be for somebody standing all day in terms of comfort. Not much padding on the bottom.

/thread.

Honestly, I'm laughing at almost all of these suggestions. Anyone with a real foot issue knows that 99% of the shoes listed, and ESP Nike Shox, KNOWS these don't work. I have both arthritis and plantar fasciitis, and was working retail for just over a year. My feet got a million times worse in just that year.
New Balance makes a shoe for it, but it's not intended for long use. I ended up returning mine.

Vibrams are amazing for people w/o foot issues, primarily heel. I had some but had to return them. I was breaking them in properly, but they were killing my feet, and then my doctor basically went off on me b/c they're not good for foot issues. (trust me I loved them other than the pain)

Dansko is an extremely good brand. They're pricey, but worth it. Also Spenco, Acor, Crocs(i'm not a fan) You need to go to a store that will fit your entire foot. The length, width, arch, heel, etc.

IMO, you can't put a price on footcare, esp if your job requires you to be on your feet, and esp if you plan to do this for awhile. I'm only 28, and by the end of a 9hour shift on my feet all day, you can't see my ankles and I'm hobbling in pain. Not good for someone so young.

you sound about like me. i walk with a limp tho because my left hip has basiclly collapsed on itself. after more than an 8 hour shift i hurt so bad. usually i walk slow as s**t and like a robot.

the np at work tho has prescribed be an antiinflammatory called voltram (diclofenac) that works wonders. maybe try that
