i have 96 coupe, and im looking into gettin new door speakers and rear deck speakers. they are all stock as of right now, and i have an alpine cd deck from last summer i have in. im looking for some 6 1/2's and 6x9's i was thinking either stick with alpine or go with infinity. im looking for a nice clear sound but with a decent amount of bass. any suggestions? stick with alpine or what? any advice would help, im not really big into the car audio thing.

At 22 watts RMS (Kenwood) my SPS-170As are underpowered, you are going to be worse off than that.
Most Alpine decks are like 16 watts RMS.
Alpine 6X9 SPR-69LP are like 55 watts RMS so plan on getting an amp. I am.

i have personally heard the infinite kappa 692.7i 6x9's powered with an audiobahn amp and they sounded INCREDIBLE. made my pioneers sound like headphones. i always thought the Polk mmc690's were pretty hott too...

if you go with anything more than like 150watts peak you will definetely need an external amp or youre wasting your money on speakers.

Polk does make good speakers.
I put a pair of Polk GXR6es ou of my old Civic into my Chrysler and they sound great running off the factory deck.....well, as great as factory can sound anyway.
They sounded just as good driven by my old pooftah Aiwa (Sony) receiver.

alpine > infinity, imo, because alpine's sound more mid bassy to me. but i think it's ridiculous to get either set without an amp. might as well wait a little bit so you can the money to all of it... just imo. heh, i'm like a broken f**king record on this topic.

i do have an insignia amp. i got a box, a 12" audio pipe sub and an insignia amp from my buddy for 50 bucks. its probably not the best amp, but hey 50 bucks for all that. hell yea. i could use that amp for the speakers right? like i said, i dont know much about hooking up speakers and s**t.

stick to the good stuff if you go with any good brand name youll be fine
i got a panasonic head unit wit 4 alpine type s speaker hooked up to a alpine V12 amp with 2 10 inch kicker sub running on a kenwood kac-7202.... not bad at all... the type S... VERY NICE u won't regret....
