Hello all,

I'm new to the site and I'm looking to buy a 2008 Honda Civic LX with 55,000 miles. The price is $12,000. I checked the Carfax and it shows that it is clean, 3 owner (including the dealer). The only strange thing on the carfax is that it was noted as being white color before and now it is blue. Up close, it doesn't look like it was painted. I drove it and it rides fine though I've never driven a Civic before so don't know what to compare to. The brakes were a little rough when first driving it but it cleared up after a few mins. The dealer says it was probably because of sitting on the lot for a while and in the rain. Is that a plausible explanation? Is it a good deal? It's about $2,000 below KBB value. Thanks for the help.

In VA 12K for a civic with low milage is a good deal. Most run closer to 14-15k. As for the brakes i dont know what you mean by ruff, however rust does build up on the rotors from sittng, i have an 07 and it does it to me from time to time... As for the Carfax verify that the VIN on the carfax matches the one on the car...also check the sticker on the inside of the driver side door. it will tell you what color the car is supposed to be..There is a chance one of the owners had it painted..

I would look under the hood and check the surounding areas..make sure no framing is bent and try to see what parts look to new or even check for some of the plastic pieces that hold the bumper and and stuff on to make sure they are there.

Check the trunk..pull the board up and look at the well area that holds the spare tire, again your looking for any dents or bends.. then look under the car and check the framing if all this looks good then the car should be good.. It is always hard to tell if the car has been in an accident since carfax is not always up to date. Either way hondas are easy to fix and sounds like a good deal if all the things you check are good.

Hope this helps a little
