that happened to me also when i put my alpine head unit in. but when i checked it was the fuse. and that fixed the guage lights, but not the climate control. they are still out. so if its not the fuse i dont knwo what it could be.

Not that I really think this is your problem but I remember someone's dash lights all going out after he installed a GSR cluster into his car. Come to find out he fried the dash lights' harness. I think he had hooked up his foglights to compete somehow with the power on the dash lighting or something and it fried it.

i heard that some older civics has the keyless entry tied into the stock deck. you had to stuff the factory deck in the back somewhere and then install a new one. if you disconnect stock deck, keyless entry will stop working. i'm not sure which models tho but it could be yours. if you hook the factory deck back and everything works, you have your problem.

Yeah, the '96-'98 Civics have the keyless riding on the radio. The dome light also works off of this.

There's 2 fuse boxes too. I;ve heard of people looking only at the one under the hood or only the one on the driver's side.

the dimmer is to the left of the steering wheel, by the cruise control button. when i had my civic, i had no issues like this when installing the head unit, but then again i had a 2000 ex

I had no issue either. I crammed the factory radio behind the dash, got a harness to have the keyless still work (provide power to the factory radio) and installed everything else normally. No problems beside having to tear your dash apart whenever you needed to reprogram the remote keyless.
