Loud click from driver's right wheel

It is hard to explain, but when I go up a curb at more than a crawl, such as going up my driveway at an angle, my driver's side front wheel clicks. And it is pretty loud. What could this be? Is it a shock/strut going bad? It also happens if I turn sharply while accelerating a little harder than normal. My rims are 17x7 with a 215-40-17 tire on it. It doesn't sound like rubbing but I am not sure what it is

Sounds like it could be your axle.

So would that require a new axle, or is it fixable? Sorry for the stupid questions, just nervous that this may cost me am arm and a leg...

Are your wheels turned at all when it clicks? Sounds like a CV joint.

What it sounds like it could be is the cv joint shaft. I may have it looked at and then buy the part instead of paying the ridiculous shop fees for the part, hopefully that is the problem though...

Sounds like you need to replace the CV axle. Common referred to as the axle. Can you see if the boots are busted (leaking grease)? That would be one way to tell.
