Wuts up everyone,Im a noob to the tuning world and i was wondering i plan and droping in a nw motor possibly the h22 but not exactly sure yet,I was wondering i plan on boosting in the futur and i was wondering should i go with a lower compression motor instead of a high compression for turboing.I heard a lower compression is better to with when wanting to turbo this this true?

Any help would be great

Well man, they say any where from 9.0 to 9.5 on the compression is ideal, atleast this is what I have heard. I don't know if running a stock h22 would be good with anything higher than 8-10 lbs. of boost. I have heard some horror stories about people who get a stock H22A and then boost it up with a 15 psi turbo and blow out the head gasket and rings. I would say keep it below 10:1 and you should be gravy.

That really depends on how well you build your motor. Each pound of boost is amplified as you up the compression ratio. You can boost more on a lower compression motor and get the same amount as boosting less on a higher compression motor.

Just make sure you get your car tuned really good for any amount of boost on a honda motor.

the H22 is a hard motor to boost. its really not well suited for it.

should i go with the regular h22 then instead of the type s because of its high compression?

I would suggest going with a b series rather then h, such as a B18B if you want to boost later on. B series is reliable, parts are interchangeable, and are easy swaps to do.

my friend has a prelude SH, which i think has the same motor as the S but with GayTTS. i know he has been looking for a way to gain some power and turbo or supercharging is really difficult on that engine. i would get an integra LS motor, B18B i believe, the compression is fine for boost and the motor is strong enough to handle it no problem.

The h22 is hard to turbo regardless of which version it is. The plite of the h22 is it takes from the c30a in that it is an all aluminum block. That coupled with the thin piston walls makes it a horror to turbo charge. You would have to sleeve the pistons to next tuesday and change out pistons to a lower compression, maybe a 9:1 for safe messure.
