my subwoofer claims 35-150hz reproduction, but the low pass filter on my amp is 85hz. so if i turn the LPF on im going to be limiting the range of my woofer?

can leaving the amp set to full range damage the sub?

Can you tell me what headunit are you using, what amp? The thing here is that you can "play" with the settings of the headunit and the amp at the same time. And another thing is that you have to think what kind of bass you like on your system. There is the deep bass sound and a "flat" bass, if you like the deep sound better you can use the LPF around 80hz (that´s how I got all that). Play with the gain of the amp too. And don´t leave it to full range or you may damage the sub if the amp is powerfull.

Leave it on LPF, turn up your radio until the music gets a little fuzzy or distorted, now turn it down a couple notches. play with the dials on the amp until you are satisfied with the outcome of your subs.

you dont want your sub playing anything higher than 80hz

80 to about 300( i believe) is midbass territory
