Lowering my Civic

Hey everybody I want to lower my 97 Civic about a inch or inch and a half. but two at the most. I plan to use lowering springs what would be the best brand? I have 17in Katana blades with a good tire profile and wanted to know what would be the ideal height i could drop it with out rubbing my tires or decreasing cornering. Or if there are any components like shock etc. that I should get to add on to them. Here's a pic to help.

Lowering it on coil sleeves or lowering springs with stock shocks is one thing
Lowering it on coil sleeves or lowering springs with stock shocks and low profile 17in tires is another.
I recommend you dont do it unless you get better shocks and/or beefier tires
I lowered my civic on stock shocks and its bumpy as hell as well as gives me back pains (15in SI wheels)
DONT DO IT.
