Right now, i have an LS engine which is on it's way into my hatch, and i really want to turbo the car. Is it worth it to put a vtec head or not? and i was thinking of putting 9.0:1 CP Pistons in the block and then shot peen the pistons, using arp head studs and rod bolts. would i be able to safely push 12-13psi with that setup?

There is no need to keep the stock rods with aftermarket pistons. As you should know if you plan to go turbo, psi means nothing.

With a vtec head, rods, pistons, and a good tune you should be able to get 350-375whp.

stock rods use press-fit wristpins, aftermarket pistons use floating wristpins...enough said

what sort of rods should i look at then? and if i want to push 13psi (or w/e that comes to in CFM) am i going to want to upgrade my fuel system? and how much am i looking at if i just do a ported and polished ls head?

a vtec head would be a great upgrade. make sure it comes with or you get seperate the cams, vtec solenoid, intake manifold, distributor(there is a trick to make the ls one work), and the ls/vtec kit from golden eagle.

for rods the most common rod for the hondas are the eagles. they are great and will suite your build well.

if you go ahead with the forged pistons and rods with the vtec head then im sure the wrx turbo would be way to small for your liking. something like a 50 trim or 57 trim would be better.

Well i heard that with vtec-turbo motors they may conflict with each other.
what????????????

lol, sorry i had to

no, vtec does not conflict with turbo. makes tuning a little more complicated but makes driving a little more fun too. i am currently building an LS/VTEC turbo as well (RIP B20VTEC ). im using a garret t3/t4 57 trim. the block is running stock internals with re-ringed pistons (i believe 9.4.1 comp). if you are going to lower the compression with those pistons i dont see why you cant boost 10-12 psi, but why would you? with the lower compression its going to be less streetable b/c the power/torque curve is going to be weaker in the lower rpms

Take your time and make sure you dont over look anything. I have a friend who's ls/vtec is puttin 450= to the wheels on pump gas and over 600 on race gas. I would highly recommend upgrading the fuel system with a turbo.

lets be honest here. just boost your b18b. its cheap, its economical, and it provides more then enough power. ive seen low 13's on a bone stock boosted ls (not sure of which tranny, prob gsr)

keep the build simple and within your means, not something thats unwieldy. then again i don't know your income or your dedication so im just taking a shot in the dark.

:word:

LS turbos are great setups. Take the extra money for the vtec head, and put it in the turbo setup.
