map sensor help!!!!

i have a boosted 00 si with the stock b16a2. im running a vafc hack for now but i plan on upgrading in a few weeks. I recently purchased a 3bar gm map sensor because i ikept getting cels i ihooked a diagnostics thing up to and it said map sensor signal output. What is this. I talked to the guy from apexi and he was like my car is suppose to run on 6 in and 6 out but in that setting it wont stay running. So i set it on 3in 8out and it pulls like a top. But when i slow down i always get a cel and the car doesnt want to go when i give it gas.

The other day when i hooked up my 3 bar my car wont run at all. I hooked it up like the hondata thing siad on their website but it didnt help. What could this be?? thanks

you're doing it all wrong

first, you are using an AFC, so it doesnt make a difference what map sensor you use because you should have checkvavles to prevent the sensor from seeing boost. you do not want your map sensor to see boost when you are using the hack, it will cause a CEL. get a missing link or go the fishtank checkvalve route to block the sensor.

also, your car will not run with a stock ecu and a 3bar map sensor. your ecu is set up to read the stock 1.7bar map sensor and thats it. if it sees anything else, it will throw a fit. only way to avoid that is to get a chipped ecu set up for the different sensor. but then again it would be worthless because you are running the hack and the sensor shouldnt see boost anyways

actualy the MAP sensor can see 11lbs of boost(actualy 10.8) but the ecu doesn't have the fuel and timming mappings for boost. That's why it throws a CEL.

its actually 11.5psi

BUT the ecu has to be chipped to recognize what its seeing, otherwise as soon as it sees any boost at all it will throw a CEL

just running the hack, of course he is going to get a CEL. and for the exact reasons i posted above

Ryan I think you are sadly one of the only ones on this site that understands turbo setups, too bad more people are into mugen rims and aem intakes

thanks im orderiing my chipped ecu today because i was just using the vafc hack just to get around but thnaks for the info bro
