how does a manual boost controller work?

i have a internal wastegate set at 5.5 psi and im gonna run either 10 or 12psi(cant decide)......i know u put it intbetween the line to the compressor to the wastegate......but how do u start it off? do u leave the MBC all the way down first? or how does that work?

you turn the knob at the top. and you just have to keep testing it till you reach the desired psi. theres no special way of doing it. you turn the knob, drive your car and pay attention to your boost gauge.

all boost controllers are more or less guess and check devices. even expensive ebc's often add more or less than 1 psi due to variations in the turbo/wastegate system. start from fully open, make a run (most ball and spring mbc's add 1-2 psi from the restriction), then turn it a few clicks, make another, and so on and so forth. it shouldnt take more than 15 minutes or so to set the boost level, and it gives you an excuse to do a bunch of full boost runs.
