Hey guys ive got a EJ1 with 160k and just wondering what things other than a compression test and block check i should do to make sure my engine can take the boost, Or if i should just throw the boost idea out and go with a swap before turbo, Thanks ;).

its a test where a compressor runs air through your engine. its measures the rate of the air leaking through the engine

please dont post false information. its completely dependant on the condition of the engine. ive seen cars with 190k push 18lbs

too much psi on a worn stock motor isnt good for too long
Well, what parts would you recomend replacings because of being "worn"

im thinkin new valves, and springs, probably a new cam while im in there... im doing a leakdown test at work today make sure my valves, are still good.

block guard, Vitara pistons, forged rods.....

A big thanks to everyone replying and helping me out on my way to being boosted =) :thumbs up

instead of a block guard id get sleeves, rods, pistons (while your in there) valve springs, retainers, cams (arent necessary but they help)

talk about being reliable after all that

blockguards brace the cylinder walls against any side to side movement. sleeving your engine will repair worn out bores, and reinforce your cylinder walls, making it stronger

thats enough convincing for me, i searched and found some good info too about block guards sometimes restricting coolant flow, and once you put them in you need to have the head resurfaced because of having to hammer in the block guard.... bla bla.... so sleeves it is i guess
