So i starting buying turbo stuff for my car, couple pieces at a time. About a week ago the guy i bought it from decided to tell me it is a mini me swap and when i bought it almost a year ago it was all fresh with 3000 miles on it. Now that i know that it is a mini me and the compression is really high for boost, what should i do?

got traction

i rock the sohc

i bought the car and it said it had head work done. recently i realized the motor mounts were f**ked up so i asked the old owner about it and we became quick friends. i told him i wanted to either mini me or turbo it. he told me there was a y8 head on it and i didnt know because i dont get over 4k rpm and it engages at 4800.

With the cr being pretty high for boost, what would be recommended. i know lower compression pistons, but brands? prices? i was looking at vitara but idk yet.

Opinions and comments please.

if your going to build a single i recommend going vitara, i've heard alot of goodness coming from all the built singles out there who've used vitara parts

if i go vitara what all will i need, the set i found online came with rings, but i read the rods dont ever reach the deck of the block. there has been talk, or there already is, but i heard of custom length so the piston reaches the top of the block. if i were to do that wouldnt that not help my compression issue? to my understanding the only reason they are good for boost is they can carry up to 400 horse and they dont deck so there is your compression loss

Corrections? Comments?

I am pretty serious about this build. i have always been the kid with no money helping friends making their cars go fast, and now its my turn and they dont think i will do it. help me prove them wrong.

Thank you
Sam

Notching of the block is required with eagle H-Beam rods...

its not that big of a deal, whoever tunes your car or works on it can just do it with a dremel, then clean it real well..

id reccommend going vitara/eagle (probably .10 over), arp head studs, and a thicker head gasket.

If you buy those pistons, i think your going to have to get the block bored to have them fit.

Turbod16.com is your bestfriend when it comes to this kind of research.. look at the members rides or whatever its called and just look around and see what you think you'd like to accomplish... remember to set goals for your build

A boosted mini me is just asking for trouble, and how can you say you've never taken your car over 4,000 rpm's in almost a year.. not that you can even hear or feel a single cam vtec engage.. just my 2 cents

motor is all pretty new, 13lbs of boost. idk how much power.

Is it more reliable to use the $800 to continue to build by turbo kit or get a car that is already faster than mine and its on a fresh motor and head?

i would prefer going all motor because not only it save more gas and just add really high compression and a proper tune up... it could be running high 13s...
