Ok I typed this really long ass message and hit send but before it could post lost connection and it didn't come through so I'm really ticked but anyway....here it goes again....
I'm sure most know but I'm a member of the North Texas Mustang Club and we host a cruise (show) on the first saturday of every month (2nd sat of october for this year because of a conflict with the state fair show). We had the show last night, after a long day at the AER (all engine remanufacturing or something like that) show. I was in Open class (with a 57 Chevy, my cousins motorcycle, an SVT mustang and a couple others I forgot what they were because I was too mad that the svt went in open when there are several mustang classes they qualified for...) I ended up getting 2nd to the Chevy and got a nice class award plaque. My mom tied for first in her class, woohoo! I forgot my camera so I have no pics from either show next time I won't be so daft.
Anyway I had this great idea yesterday (I think it's great anyway....) Every month the club has a "guest club of the month" class and usually there's no guest club there. I thought that that show would be a great place for a meet for the north texas people. A couple of you would drive away with a trophy/plaque and everyone with a full stomach (it's at the Cracker Barrell, fox street exit off 35). It's a lot of fun and the club is trying to get the younger crowd involved. There is a special award given to people age 16-25. The cruise directors pick the person based on what they see with that person and their car. Yesterday a girl got it because she had a really nice Mustang, and pics that showed HER working on the restoration. I wanted the award of course, but she deserved it way more than me. So I was thinking we should pick a month that works for most and meet up there as guest club of the month. We'd get to park together and have our own ClubCivic class. It's $8 per car to enter, no fee to attend or if you just want your car there but not entered. It is participant judged and there is a managers choice award too. they usually pick the fanciest car because they're idiots who know nothing about cars...my personal observation. If anyone is interested or wants more info, please let me know. We'd only need probably 5 or so cars to qualify for the guest club thing, but I'll talk to them to find out for sure if it comes down to it. I need to let them know a month or so in advance so they can get it ready for us, July I think would be the earliest we should do it, but June might be okay too. It'd be the first saturday, 5pm at the Cracker Barrell in Lewisville. I believe directions/maps are available on the mustang club website (www.ntmc.org) We could just meet there and park our cars together. It's a really laid back, no stress show where you can see your car from anywhere (except inside the building of course) and there's never been any sort of problem in the year I've been going. Let me know if you're interested, please.
