I came here with the idea of buying a 96-00 ex as a daily driver, till I remembered they ran 16's-17s at the track last time I was there. I want a daily driver in the mid- to low 15's the problem is I have to sell my gti first, which will probably be a small loss, and then buy another car after that. Which is why I was going civic ex, and hoping I could do some minor mods to hit at least a 15.3.

After searching it seems like it would take more work than its worth..

So mainly looking for advice, i think i could find a b16 for about 1700-1900 before shipping, and before installation. and for that price about, I think i could get a d series into the mid to low 15's. any opinion? or links to find a b16 cheaper?

anyone want to buy an 03 gti?

it's a lot more expensive... think upwards of 4500

if I were you I'd stick with the D and turbo it, you can do your own setup for under the cost of a swap and make more power than a B16

If you just want a run for 15's, you can get a EX and just squeeze nitrous. Hell you can even go 14's.

why do you need a daily driver? seems the GTI would make a good one.

your name is a little pretentious too, 14.7 isn't all that fast.

Why not look into the srt-4's. Resale value sucks on those, and you could probably pick up a nice 03 for cheap

well i'm in college, and i wanted something I could pay off quick.(reason for getting rid of the gti) to me a 14.7 is quick being that ive never been in a fast car, and my old car ran 16-17s. oh well thanks for the semi advice.

Yeah 15's is a low number to shoot for when you consider that just a litle more tuning will put you in the mid to low 14's.

Your budget is about $2,000?

Stage 1 from Exospeed with camshaft: $1000
SRP pistons with crower rods: $800
copper gasket: $200 or so

That will put you at 140 or so at the wheels, assuming you have a manual transmission EX. A better breathing engine will yield more horses for your bolt ons. After I/H/E, there's no reason you can put 150 at the wheels. That would put in the 15's if you're a competent driver. Everything else after that is not as expensive as what I listed, assuming you're not going to use forced induction.
