does anyone have experience with putting higher amperage alternators on the smaller honda motors? im running two amps over totaling 1200w as well as dvd player, rearview camera and other misc crap, ive already tried inline caps and im still getting interior and guage lights to dim when it hits real hard. im hoping to find something from a bigger or newer honda, not a gold lowrider special. any help is greatly appreciated.

seriously, noone?

let me rephrase the question, can anybody help me find the factory specs for different alternators? something from a b or k might be a little higher in output.

You might want to contact a local 'alternator shop' and ask if a prelude SI or accord EX (that have power everything, seats, windows, yadda yadda) and see what can be adapted in..
They usually put out more amps but the mounting 'ears' might be clocked in different locations.

Otherwise, you may want to look into wiring up some higher amp GM units..

You can find high output alternators all over the place online. best bet would be to take your car to a local shop that rebuilds alternators, have them measure your total current draw at full potential, and have your current alt wound up to compensate.

wattage doesnt mean anyting in this situation. you need to find out how many amps (amperage) your system pulls.

dimming lights is commonly a ground or wiring issue. have you done the "big 3 upgrade"??

1200 watts isnt a whole lot. are we talking 1200 rms or 1200 peak to peak? might be as simple as a good wiring upgrade.

lets get a little more info on this system...

big 3 upgrade?
amp models?
guage wiring used?
where are your amps grounded?

I did a quick google search and found them as low as $100 for a 130 amp. but again, i dont think you need it.

Manderson,
thanks WTF is the "big three upgrade"
i switched amps today and im no longer getting the dimming, possibly poor ground circuitry in the old amp.

Big 3 upgrade is the absolute FIRST step to a system. Upgrading your thin factory wiring to handle more current in a powerful system. If you havent done it, its cheap and will help. plain and simple, your factory wiring is too small to handle high current draw.

upgrade the following 3 wires...

alt+ to batt +
batt- to chassis
engine ground to chassis.

do a little google magic on "big 3 upgrade" and you will find plenty of how to's, etc. =)
