Well it's been a while since I posted some pics on this and it has changed drastically. The engine has been rebuilt for higher compression as well as being ported. The exhaust is also tuned now. The electronics have been rewired and the head has been polished and rebuilt.

Oh yeah fenders to keep the mud off and for winter some knobby tires. Come summer slicks will be going on it as well as a second gear for higher cruising speeds.

enjoy.

And for those unaware of the previous posts about this contraption it's a 60cc 2-Stroke engine mounted on a Cro-Moly MTB frame and currently reaches speeds around 40mph. A second gear and possibly an 80cc engine are in the works.

No it's not really safe. Needs better brakes, another thing that's in the works is a front disc.

i have a few bikes that'd work GREAT with that thing on them. big disc brakes, 8" suspension travel, etc. how much did that setup run ya?

total cost was about $160 though a lot of the pieces were custom machined for mounting.

No it doesn't do wheelies real well. 2-Stroke engines have a distinct power band that you tune for and I biased the tuning to mid-high rpm torque. The 80cc will more than likely be tuned for a wider band.

And there's no risk of it blowing up, it's a Yamaha designed engine from the 70's.

I've been thinking about how to mount it on a full suspension bike and beyond the bike needing to be a four link system like a specialized or something along those lines, it won't fit in the frame with many other designs. After that you'd just need a more advanced chain tensioner which could easily be adapted from a downhill racing tensioner.

Ebay is your friend for the engines and their kits. OR www.grubeeinc.com which sells much higher quality stuff.

what you need is a bike with a concentric pivot- one that pivots around the bottom bracket, so the chainline stays constant. or, in a more perfect situation, you could use a single pivot frame and mount the engine on the swingarm, so it maintains constant chain tension.
